The Summer Stars reading programme is running in Cobh Library all during the school holidays. Children can register for free. They will receive their own Summer Star Reading Card to record their progress and the Summer Stars Reward Stamp will be added to their card for each book read.  Children will earn rewards along the way. All children who participate will be invited to a special awards ceremony at the end of the summer. There are also lots of fun activities on www.summerstars.ie  including animated e-books to read. There’s a children’s discussion board and interviews with well-known authors. There are also helpful tips for reading and recommended titles by age group for children to read. Events will also be held for children at Cobh Library during the holidays. Contact the library for more information on 4811430 or on www.librariesireland.ie

We would encourage parents to support Cobh Library not only during the summer holidays but all year round. It’s a wonderful library and Paula, Carmel and Danielle are very kind and helpful and passionate about reading!

Siobhán Hennessy

Ms Hennessy is one of our Assistant Principal’s here  in BSRAC. A huge thanks to her for all her work in not only promoting Cobh Library in the school and reading in general but we credit her with the fantastic school library and staff library that is the envy of schools around Ireland!
