The official opening of the OT room took place in the school on Wednesday 30th May in the newly rebranded Coiscéim. Following a rebranding and redesign lead by Erik Johansson from The Green Man Studio, the former Autistic Unit has taken on a new ‘Rainforest’ theme. A huge thank you to Erik and his team at The Green Man Studio (Cuskinny Court)for sharing their vision and talent with us.

We were very lucky to have award winning Cork footballer Bríd Stack with us on the day to officially open the OT room. Bríd gave an inspiring talk to the adults and children and even tried out some of our new equipment! A special thanks to Margaret O ‘Neill and the Parents Council members, who helped to organise refreshments on the day. Our Team Bike Challenge posters were beautifully designed by Mandy Byrne, thank you Mandy!

We would like to thank all those involved who worked hard during our fundraising last year. We would especially like to extend our gratitude to all our sponsors, including our main sponsors; Cobh Heritage Centre, Great Island Motors and Cobh Credit Union for your kindness and generosity. The support received from staff, parents and friends of the school in order to raise the necessary funds to kit out the OT room was overwhelming. Our initial aim to raise €10,000 was well surpassed. Over €14,000 in total was raised. The equipment purchased will help children throughout the school improve handwriting, coordination, balance and engagement with sports. Many children will now be able to access all areas of school life in a better way, as a result of the dedication and commitment of our community.
